How long before the bruising disapears after my Rhinoplasty?
The main bruising is around the eyes and can last 2-3 weeks, although is usually less than this.
How old do I have to be to have a Rhinoplasty?
Unless there is a significant health issue which would require urgent attention, it is advisable to wait until a young person has finished growing as features can change. This is roughly around 17-18 years old for boys and 16 years old for girls.
Can Rhinoplasty improve breathing through my nose?
Rhinoplasty will help the functionality of the nose by creating a less obstructed nasal package with clearer channels to breathe through. Sometimes, however, breathing can be affected by sinus problems, so it is worth highlighting the source of the problem before electing to have rhinoplasty for this purpose alone.
What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery?
Typically, the difference exists in the purpose of surgery . Cosmetic surgery performed with the primary goal of improving one’s appearance. Reconstructive surgery is performed to improve personal health, body function or alleviate disease and is often considered medically necessary.
What procedures are considered to fall under reconstructive surgery?
The line between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery can sometimes be blurred. Generally, reconstructive surgery improves both appearance and health. Some examples of reconstructive surgery include:
Breast Reconstruction (Following surgical breast cancer treatment)
Burn Care – Reconstructive Rhinoplasty (to improve nose air flow)
Eyelid Surgery (to improve field of vision)
How long does recovery usually take?
Most reconstructive surgery procedures require one to two weeks for healing . However, recovery time also depends on the patient and specific reconstructive surgery performed. Some patients are able to return to a normal routine immediately after a reconstructive surgery procedure, while others require several weeks to retain a normal level of functioning. In some cases, the final results are not clears for months.
Sometimes referred to as a “nose job” or “nose reshaping” by patients, enhances facial harmony and the proportions of your nose. It can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose.
It can treat :
- Nose size in relation to facial balance
- Nose width at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils
- Nose profile with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
- Nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked
- Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
- Nasal asymmetry
If you desire a more symmetrical nose, keep in mind that everyone’s face is asymmetric to some degree. Results may not be completely symmetric, although the goal is to create facial balance and correct proportion.
A facelift is used to rejuvenate the cheek/midface/jawline/neck areas. The technique has evolved greatly over the years. Dr Nizar Hamadeh performs his own version of the deep plane facelift, The SMAS ( superficial musculo-aponeurotic system) is elevated together with the the platysma muscle of the neck and tightened. At this point, there will be excess skin present. This is trimmed to fit precisely, and sutured meticulously to create a hard-to-see incision line.
Scars on the face tend to heal very well. Although a little pink initially in the first few months they then fade to white. Most patients form very good quality scars over time. The length of time will vary in each individual patient and some patients may form raised or stretched scars. If you are a smoker, try and stop for eight weeks before and one week after surgery as it can reduce the chances of complications.
Cosmetic eyelid surgery dramatically improves the appearance of tired, droopy eyes. This is accomplished by removing excess skin and pockets of fat from the upper and lower eyelids. Many patients combine blepharoplasty with alternative treatments such as brow lift to eliminate drooping eyebrows, and various cosmetic dermal fillers to treat crow’s feet.
Blepharoplasty may be an option if you have:
- Baggy or droopy upper eyelids
- Excess skin of the upper eyelids that interferes with your peripheral
- Excess skin on the lower eyelids
- Bags under your eyes
You may undergo blepharoplasty at the same time as another procedure, such as a brow lift, face-lift or skin resurfacing. During surgery, incisions are made in the natural folds of the eyelid, in the crease of the upper eyelid and just beneath the lashes or behind the lower eyelid. This way, incisions are virtually unnoticeable after they have healed.
Are your lips too thick or is the red of your lips too small? If so you could consider plastic surgery correction to make your lips smaller or fuller.
Are your lips too thick or too full? It is possible to reduce the size of your lips.Through a small incision the surgeon turns the excess red of the lips inwards. The scar is hidden in the mouth and is therefore invisible.
Are your lips too thin or is the red part of the lips too narrow? It is possible to enhance the lips.If an injection is not effective because the red of the lips is too inverted then it can be enlarged by turning the red of the lips from the inside of the lips outwards.
Lifting The Upper Lip
With age the upper lip tends to droop and the red of the lips becomes narrower. This symptom of the aging process can be corrected with a simple “butterfly correction”.The scar is hidden in the nostrils. Lifting the upper lip gives a more youthful appearance.
Gummy Smile Correction
If your gums are exposed because your upper lip is lifted too high when you smile, this procedure can offer a solution.
